At Fix & Flow, we take great pride in our ability to balance modern plumbing solutions with the unique challenges of older homes. This expertise was particularly essential during our project in Levi’s 1960’s home in the North Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta. Despite previous plumbing updates over the years, Levi’s home had persistent drainage issues in two bathrooms. Our team took on the challenge of fixing these problems while also preserving the home’s appearance and appeal.

Primary Bath Drainage Repair

Our team started in the primary bathroom. Levi’s tub had significant drainage problems, leaving ankle-deep water even after several attempts to jiggle the stopper. The tub’s waste and overflow system also needed a complete replacement. Our team carefully accessed the plumbing system through the basement ceiling, before removing the existing system and replacing it with a new 2” PVC P-trap and a chrome lift-and-turn tubular waste and overflow. Our approach ensured the proper functionality of Levi’s tub while also preventing future leaks.

Half Bath Drainage and Odor Elimination

Next, the team moved on to Levi’s half bath to address the fact that the shower was not draining properly. This was especially concerning as it appeared to be affecting the drainage of the entire house and the drain was emitting a noticeable sewer gas odor. The team later discovered this issue was being caused by the absence of a P-trap. Once again, our team accessed the shower’s plumbing through the ceiling underneath the shower drain. They successfully installed a new 1 1/2” P-trap, completely eliminating the lingering odor and improving the shower’s overall drainage.

Additional Services

Committed to providing comprehensive services, Fix & Flow also addressed the aesthetic impact our work had on Levi’s home. We wrapped up the project by patching and painting three sections of ceiling sheetrock removed during the repair. Additionally, our team refreshed the hallway walls by scraping off old paint, skimming and mudding the drywall and applying a coat of paint.
